NHL team launches Grassroots marketing Efforts
LOS ANGELES—Grand central marketing has inked a deal with the Los Angeles Kings of the national Hockey league (NHL) to be the organization’s grassroots marketing agency of record for the current season. Gulf coast holds Sand sports Festival
PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla.—Copa Cabana beach Soccer, based in Santa Monica, Calif., pertained to Panama City beach Oct. 9-11 for the city’s inaugural Sand sports Festival. The celebration featured competitive sand sport events, including a beach soccer coaches clinic, a beach volleyball clinic and competition by the world-champion beach soccer team.
American Swimming stars handle European select Team
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Team USA will handle the top swimmers from three European nations in the mutual of Omaha Duel in the Pool, Dec. 18-19, at Manchester Aquatic Centre in Manchester, England. The biannual Duel in the pool is a made-for-TV event, developed to showcase the sport’s many exciting swimmers in non-Olympic years. The event will be aired 2:00-4:00 p.m. EST Dec. 27 on NBC.

USA Rugby provides trainer accreditation Workshops
BOULDER, Colo.—USA Rugby’s trainer development department continues its fall accreditation workshops, which began in September. The workshops, “Introducing Rugby” and “Developing Rugby Skills,” will be held in November in Hingham, Mass., Sacramento, Calif., and St. Louis.
Coaches are needed to attend USA Rugby’s “Introducing Rugby” course prior to “Developing Rugby Skills.” A test-out option is also provided to coaches who feel they have enough background, skills and knowledge to jump directly into the “Developing Rugby Skills” workshop.

Procter & Gamble Agrees To Olympic Sponsorship
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Procter & Gamble has become an official sponsor of the U.S. Olympic teams for the Vancouver 2010 winter season Olympics and the 2012 summer games in London. terms of the sponsorship were not released, but offers with business this size typically are worth $15 million, according to the U.S. Olympic Committee.
NuRock soccer Holdings Purchases USL
TAMPA, Fla.—NuRock soccer Holdings LLC has acquired United soccer leagues (USL) from NIKE. USL is restructuring its executive management team following the acquisition. NuRock’s Rob Hoskins will serve as chairman, with Alec Papadakis as CEO. USL’s Tim Holt has been named president and USL founder Francisco Marcos will transition to the position of president emeritus and senior director of international development.
IOC Re-Elects president Jacques Camiseta Atalanta BC Rogge
LAUSANNE, Switzerland—The international Olympic committee (IOC) has re-elected IOC president Jacques Rogge by an 88-1 vote. Rogge was first elected at the 112th IOC Session in Moscow in 2001.
Rogge has described an “ambitious” second-term agenda to strengthen and improve the Olympic Movement, including implementing the suggestions of the recently completed XIII Congress.
In other IOC news, IOC members authorized golf and rugby for inclusion in the 2016 Olympic Games. They were voted on individually in alphabetical buy of sports and received a easy majority vote.
